ANSWERS TO IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

What services does CloudSpeech specialize in?

CloudSpeech primarily provides virtual speech therapy for children with speech sound disorders.

Speech sound disorders may impact overall intelligibility, and your child may be difficult to understand even by familiar listeners. We specialize in:

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS): A motor speech disorder where children have difficulty planning and coordinating the precise movements needed for clear speech. CAS requires high-frequency, motor-focused therapy and is often the most underdiagnosed speech disorder in young children.

The Tricky "R" Sound: /R/ is one of the most commonly misarticulated and most difficult sounds to remediate in English. It has many variations (R as in "red," ER as in "her," AR as in "car," and more) and often persists into the school years if not addressed. CloudSpeech offers specialized /R/ therapy, including our intensive Summer R Boost program.

Lisps (Frontal, Lateral, Palatal, and Dental): A lisp affects how /S/ and /Z/ sounds are produced. Frontal and dental lisps may resolve in early childhood, but lateral and palatal lisps are never developmental — they require direct intervention. Lisps that persist past age 4;6 should be evaluated.

Late-Developing Articulation Errors: Difficulty producing specific sounds such as SH, CH, TH, and L. While some sounds develop later than others, persistent errors past expected ages are a sign that targeted therapy will help.

Phonological Disorders: Consistent speech patterns that affect clarity — such as saying "tat" for "cat," "wabbit" for "rabbit," or "top" for "stop." Unlike isolated articulation errors, phonological disorders involve patterns across multiple sounds and respond best to pattern-based therapy.

Does CloudSpeech take insurance?

CloudSpeech is out-of-network with insurance. We do not bill insurance directly, but we offer two options to help families access their out-of-network (OON) benefits:

Option 1: Self-Submitted Superbills

You pay for sessions in full at the time of service. Each month, we provide a detailed superbill through your client portal that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement under your out-of-network benefits.

Option 2: Thrizer Pay

For families who prefer a more streamlined experience, we partner with Thrizer — a third-party platform that handles out-of-network billing on your behalf. Many families using Thrizer Pay only pay a reduced portion of the session cost upfront (similar to a copay) once their deductible is met, while Thrizer submits the remainder to your insurance for processing.

You are always responsible for the full session fee if your plan does not provide OON benefits, and Thrizer Pay is optional. We're happy to walk through how it works during your consultation.

Will I be reimbursed by my insurance?

Reimbursement varies significantly depending on your specific insurance plan, deductible, and benefits. Before starting therapy, we recommend contacting your insurance company directly and asking:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient speech therapy?
  • What is my OON deductible, and how much have I met?
  • What percentage of OON costs does my plan reimburse?
  • Is CPT code 92507 (speech therapy) a covered service under my plan?
  • Are there any age or diagnosis restrictions for speech therapy coverage?

This conversation takes 10–15 minutes and gives you a clear picture of what to expect.

Can I use HSA/FSA funds?

Yes! Many families pay for speech therapy using Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Speech therapy is a qualified medical expense, and your HSA/FSA card can be used for both regular session payments and Thrizer Pay transactions.
